Location paragraphs

Location is one of the five themes of geography. There are two kinds of location, absolute and relative. Absolute location is when you give the latitude and longitude to find the exact location. If I wanted to give someone the absolute location of the Cardigan summit I would say “The Cardigan summit is located at N 43° 38’59.25’’ and W 71° 54’53.28’’ (that's actually the absolute location (I googly earthed it)) The other type of location is relative. This type of geography is when you just want to describe where something is without being too complicated. For example, I could tell someone the relative location of the summit of Mt. Cardigan by saying “It’s south of Firescrew and north of South Peak. There's a fire tower on top of it.”

Place paragraphs

Place is a hard theme to describe. It is mostly about describing what an area has in it that makes that area unique. Cardigan Mountain is a very unique place. It has a lot of human interaction but still a ton of natural stuff and things.

Cardigan Mountain has many, many things on it that humans have done. For example, there are a lot of trail markings and even a fire tower. All around the mountain, there are human traces. A lot of rock walls and stone cellars are scattered around the mountain, leaving traces of humans living there long ago. Another big human thing near the mountain is the Cardigan lodge. People are there a lot and in the parking lot getting ready to hike the man-made paths to the summit.

Physical things are what pretty much makes up cardigan. It has many trees, rocks, plants, animals and pretty much everything that you would find around a mountain. One other huge (literally) thing that was once around Cardigan was a glacier. It made glacier erratics, glacial potholes, and even the shape of Cardigan Mountain itself! As you can see, Cardigan was a great place, and I learned a lot from it.

We were there or 3 days, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday
