Place- Physical Geography! If you are looking to find the AMC Lodge to spend a night at Cardigan Mountain, or if you would maybe just like to know what it looks like, look for a tall building that is painted gray. It has a dirt road running up to it called Shem Valley Rd, and has trails all around it. There is a nice small pond on the side of it, which is most likely not visible from Shem Valley Rd. You can get to Cardigan Mountain from one of the trains the goes past the pond and into the woods. You can also hike the Nature Trail which is to the left of the pond, and if you start to walk towards Shem Valley Rd and turn left, there are a few different choices down that trail that should be listed on the arrows near the start. There are big pines, birches, and maple that should help you on your way! Place- Cultural Geography!
There are also some Cultural Geography! hints on your way to the Cardigan Mountain Lodge. When you follow Shem Valley Rd (as explained in the Physical Geography! paragraph) you should arrive at the AMC Cardigan Mountain Lodge in Orange, NH. When you pull into the parking lot, there is a big gray building that is several stories high, and a few cars in the parking lot (depending on how busy it is...) There should be a fire place that is visible if you glance into the "field" part, unless it is snowy. Hope these hints described it well for you to find it! Good luck! Physical Geography Descibing Cardigan Mountain:
Some of the Physical Geography on Cardigan Mountain were things like trees, and rocks, and other types of plants. There were MANY different types of materials made by nature, and I shall name about all of everything I saw! There were many forms of trees in the woods during the hike, and around the lodge. There were: Pine, sugar maple, red maple, ash, yellow birch, white birch, spruce, hemlock, beach, and I couldn't think that there were any other trees I might have missed.
Cultural Geography Descibing Cardigan Mountain A few of the Cultural Geography things at Cardigan Mountain were the tower, and the clothing, and hiking materials needed. Some hiking materials: Hiking boots, backpack, water, first aid kits, yourself, sunglasses, sunblock, or any part of the 5 assentials I missed.
We were there for three days, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.
