Day 1 on Cardigan

On day one, my dad drove me to the high school and then helped me put my bags on the trailer, so that they could be taken up to Cardigan. Then I got on the bus and we left. All three of those things, driving to HMHS, my bags being taken up to Cardigan, and going up on the bus are all examples of movement because different things are moving from place to place. After we got up to Cardigan we met the group leaders, got assigned a leader, and then went upstairs to put our stuff away. When we got up there Max, Jonah, John, and I put our sleeping bags on the beds and put the rest of our stuff on a spare bed. Then we went back down and outside to get ready to leave.

Our group leader told us we were going on the nature loop. After we left we were about ten minutes in and we heard a bunch of things falling that sounded like acorns, but we weren't near any trees that produce acorns. I picked one up and showed it to our group leader. She said it was a beech nut and told us it was edible. These beechnuts, that we inevitably had to sketch, are an example of moving because beech trees release these and they roll or get carried in strong gusts of wind to another spot where another tree could grow. As we kept going we came upon a stream that Kevin and I found many salamanders in. Our leader explained that all of the water went into the ocean, which is an example of movement. On our way back we saw a grouse, but it left. Fast forward to dinner, all of my bunkmates and I sat together. Then we went back up to get ready to go on the night hike.
