On Feb. 14th, Columbus spooted land. On Feb.18th they dropped an anchor off the island Santa Maria. The folling moring the Nina's crew was aressted by Portuguese inhabitants. These people thought that they were up to no good. This made Columbus very upset. But, he was able to free his crew over the next couple of days. They then countuned there voage and by March 4th they anchored a few miles away from Lisbon.

I think that Columbus day should be change. I think this because he didn’t discover The United States of America. But, Columbus did start the age of discovery. I think that Indigenous Peoples’ Day suits the day better because even if Columbus did discover America it wasn’t just him who made the voyage. The word “peoples” is plural so it is not just giving credit to one person. Some people say it is erasing history. But, it is erasing history that never happened. And, as of 2017 there is already one town that has adopted this change. This town is Durham. Along with Durham, these states have also made the change, Alaska, Hawaii, Oregon and South Dakota. The rest of New Hampshire needs to change for the better.
