Im doing my project on the deminican republic because I thought it would be cool to learn about this island. my island is the second largest island in the greater antillys. The dominican republic is a contry in the west indies. The land bourder is shared with Haiti. the length east to west of the island is 390km from Punta de Agua to Las Lajas, nourth to south is 265km north to south.

This is the history of dominican republic. The spainyerds descoverd this island in 1492 it is the second largest island in the greater antilys. The dominican republic wass later colinized by cristifer columbus. They had many dictators in the dominican republic. One of them is Rafael Leonidas Trujillo he was born to a middle class family. his berthday is october 24, 1891 he is oviously died now though. the island has mountains in the central and west of the island. The dominican republic is a contanental island because it has mountian ranges. what I thought was cool is that Oscar de la renta, one of the best known fashion designers of the century is Dominican, he was born in santo domingo.

Here are some fun facts about the dominican republic. There is a famos baseball player who lived in and grew up in the dominican republic. His name is David Ortiz, he plays for the bosten red sox now. David ortiz was born in november 18, 1975. He is 41 years old now. The Hispaniola is the island where the Dominican Rebublic is located. The dominican republic is the oldest contry of the Americas, the first place reached by Christopher Columbus in 1492. The dominican republic faught for their independence from Spain, Haiti and the United States! Baseball is the most popular sport in the dominican republic. Fishing is also a really big deal in th dominican republic. Some of the worlds best golf courses are in the dominican republic. Dominican republic is not an island it is a contry on an island.
