Place (Specialness)

The AMC lodge was a very special place because it was like a school. The difference is that you ate all your meals there and slept there. Instead of learning math or science in a classroom, you were outside learning about trees or the GPS or hiking. I liked the AMC lodge because the food was spectacular and I got to sleep in the same room as a lot of my friends. I also liked the lodge because it was warm inside and in our room. There was a window that closed and opened and in the morning there was a perfect view of the top of Cardigan. Cardigan is one of the only places I have ever been where you can't hear the sound of cars in the background. When we were on the night hike, we all sat down and everyone was perfectly silent. You could hear absolutely nothing besides your own breathing.

Place (Differentness)

The AMC lodge was a very different environment, It was in the middle of nowhere and the air was fresh and brisk. I decided to mark the coordinates of the summit of Mount Cardigan, 43 degrees north, 71 degrees West. The mountain is west of Newfound lake and north of grants pond. Cardigan was different to me because it changed my daily routine and gave me a different perspective of how much food waste is preventable. It was also different because I had never slept with half of the grade before in the same building, and my guide, Fern was the BOMB.

We were there for three days, Wensday the day that we took a bus down to the lodge, Thursday, the day that we hiked to the top of Mount Cadigan, and then Friday, the day we left.
