Blue Group
At Cardigan we saw many different things. Some were Cultural and others were physical. Some of the physical things that we saw were the mountain maple trees. There were many of those at the bottom of cardigan. At the top we saw many spruces and balsam firs and lots of liken. Some of the lichen was different than others because some of it was hard. Some of the trails had rivers that you could cross. And there were beautiful waterfalls and caves on some other trails too. The Bare rock summit was amazing. There was also a pond that had lots of apple trees near it. In the lodge there was a huge spider near the window that I was terrified of. It was big hairy and had a massive web that held many bugs that were soon to be eaten by it. Lots of mushrooms were on the trails that you could look at and there were even some edible plants. Some of them were gross like one of the berries I ate and some were good like the delicious cucumber root that my group was obsessed with. There were sugar maples and red maples that you could see on the trails. There were birch trees too. Many of them were pealing. I do not know why they do that though. Lots of caterpillars that you could see on the ground as well as many daddy long legs that just freak me out. You could hear many different kinds of birds in the trees. I can not name any of them though because they are hard to remember because there are just so many of them. Lots of rocks that you could trip on and some of them were huge and cracked. We thought that when they froze they expanded and then cracked and fell down the mountain. There were ferns too. One thing that was fun was going in the river trying not to slip on the rocks (which I ended up doing) was trying to find salamanders. Our group was able to find two. I did not see any orange ones though, but that is ok because I've seen them before. I did not see to many chipmunks but that is also ok because I see them all the time. There were many physical things to look and observe at Cardigan.
There were also many Cultural things to look at at cardigan too. One of them was the AMC lodge at the bottom of the mountain. It had lots of beds rooms and had really good food. On the first night of Cardigan we had spaghetti with sauce and meatballs. Water. Salad with croutons and caesar dressing. We also had bread with butter. Than for breakfast we had biscuits. They also had bacon watermelon and scrambled eggs. They also had sandwiches for lunch. Than for dinner the second day we had chicken with some sort of mustard on it with small bacon bits. It was delicious. We also had corn bread and rice to go with it and for dessert we had spice cake. The next day for breakfast we had french toast and sausage with melon. The people there were very nice. They did all sorts of skits and one of them even had the NOODLE PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!! There was a fire tower on top of the summit of cardigan. That was also man made. On the trail with the waterfall there were many hand rails so that you would not fall off the mountain. There were many cultural things at Mt. cardigan.
