2. Reading Check Questions on 54- What is the difference between weather and climate?

Weather is the changes in air in a quick amount of time. Climate is a sometimes predictable pattern of weather in a longer amount of time.

3. Applying Map Skills Question 1. In which general direction does the wind blow over North America?

It blows towards the east but is known as a westerlies wind because it is coming from the west.

4. Applying Map Skills Question 2. What winds did European sailers use to get to South America and the islands north of it?

A North East Wind.

5. Answer the Reading Check Question on page 55- How does the tilt of the Earth affect climate?

It affects the climate because outside the tropics the sun is never right overhead which makes it less warm in those places where there is no direct sunlight.

6. How does this relate to the Voyages of Columbus?

It realtes to Columbus's Voyage because when Columbus was at 30 degrees on his way back he stopped for about nine days because there was no wind.
