It was a dark and cold morning and we were getting on the bus to go to, Mount Cardigan! We got on the bus and loaded up our gear. It was a one and a half hour drive. The road was ziggy and ziaggy and some farms were off to the side but it still wasn't Mount, Cardigan. Finally, out of the dust Mount Cardigan rose up, we were there.

At Mount Cardigan we got off the bus and went into the back yard or the AMC Cardigan Lodge. In the back yard the workers there shared their names with us. The workers names were Andy, Gretchen, Toby, Josh and Fern. After they were done talking to us we played a game kinda like sharks and minos. While we were playing games some of the chaperones were getting our bags out of the trailer and onto the ground. Once the bags were all on the ground we loaded them up into to our rooms which were assigned by Mr. Woolner. Next we got into our hiking gear and went outside onto the steps, were we would be given our guides. They went on and on through the list and finally I heard my name. I was in Andy's group so I did as Andy asked and yelled Wooooomp Wooooomp.

Next we split up into groups introduced ourselves and started on the hike. We were off to see the falls. We hiked and hiked and we stopped and sketched every now and then and I kept noticing this one plant the whole time, and so I asked Andy about it. Andy said"That is actually a plant called hobble bush and it is very important for animals because it produces food buds way before other plants allowing animals to eat them." He also said " It can also be used for toilet paper." Later on Andy had me talk about Hobble Bush and tell them how important it was and that it can be used for toilet paper. As we got closer to the falls I could here this sound like "kshhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" and the closer we got the louder the sound got. Soon I saw a huge drop off from far away which the trail went right by. As we got closer I looked down and saw the gorgeous falls. The falls were about 15 feet deep and we were like 50 feet over the water. Luckily there were steel rails to keep us from falling in.The water looked refreshing but as we got to the bottom I stuck my hand in and it felt like my hand froze into solid ice. At the bottom we sketched. When we got back to 50 feet over the water I looked across to where the water was coming from and saw a cave. I asked Andy if we could go in the cave and he said yes because he was awesome. We went in the cave now only 20 feet over some different water. Yet their was still a steel bar railing. Then we started on the way back to the lodge where it was all just the same but backwards.

Back at the AMC Cardigan Lodge we took showers (which were on the girls floor,) ate a dinner of tacos (which were really good), had story time about black beard with Mr. Woolner, Brushed our teeth (which were also on the girls floor) and went to bed. During day 1 we did a characteristic of geography called Movement which was us hiking away from the AMC Lodge and then we hike back. The first day of Cardigan was great and I couldn't wait for the second.
