Day 1
On day one at Cardigan we met Andy, Fern and Josh while playing field games and later met Gretchen and Toby. After we gathered in a group and ate snack at the Super Sketchy Picnic Table. Then after eating we set out on an amazingly short hike around the Nature Loop, where we did some sketches and transects. On the Nature Loop we learned about some plants like the Princes Pine, and Indian Cucumber. But the best plant we learned about was the Hobble Bush, a plant that grows buds year round so the deer and moose have something to munch on during the winter months. Our guide Andy was from Pennsylvania, he moved from there to Alexandria NH to the AMC Lodge and onto the trails. He also shared some of his interests with us and hiking secrets. He likes any cheese and has hiked many mountains in NH and Pennsylvania. Also we traveled to Cardigan on a bus and left Cardigan on a bus. Our group also took the idea to eat an apple every time you summit a mountain. This is an example of movement.
