Day 1, Movement:

I awoke early on the 25th of September even though it was a Sunday. I was going to Mt. Cardigan. As I arrived at school all my friends were there ready to get on the bus. I tossed my stuff in the trailer and went to the back of the bus to sit with my friends. The bus ride was beautiful as we drove through the back country roads to Mt. Cardigan; it was very picturesque.

As we arrived at Mt. Cardigan, everyone got off the bus and went to the orientation at the AMC Lodge. We then all went to unpack into our rooms with all the stuff that we had moved here. After this, we had our lunch which we had also moved from home. Then we headed out on a nature trail. The nature trail was short but interesting. There were many different plants like hobblebush, ferns and balsam fir trees. We walked by the river which had flowed from up the hill.

After this short hike we went back to the Lodge. Our guide, Andy, told us all about where he was from and why he was here. He told us that a long time ago someone had an grown an apple orchard from trees moved here from a different place around the Lodge but the forest trees slowly moved back in among the apple trees.

Finally, it was dinner time. The cooking crew told us how they had moved the food here from farms and also when the lodge was built. After dinner, we went on a "night hike." Andy blindfolded us and led us into the woods. It was scary but fun. After such a big day, we finally went to bed. Day 1 sure was a long day of moving and movement.
