Location:
The mount cardigan summit is at the location north 43 degrees, 38 minutes, 58.2 seconds, and west 71 degrees, 54 minutes, 50 seconds. The elevation is 3,137 feet. Up at the top there is a fire lookout and that is basically it other than that it is just rock. From the top you can see Newfound lake and a few other mountains that are way off in the distance. Its relative location is around the towns Orange and Alexandria in the western part of New Hampshire. Also around the summit of mount Cardigan the other mountain Firescrew is there.
Place:
At the summit of mount cardigan there was many physical examples of place. For example, it was cold and windy one the top of the mountain and weather counts as place because it is what makes it special or different. Plus on the top of the mountain the was a cool rock hanging over the summit like a cave. Also there was an alpine bog and the summit was a bare rock granite. Along the trails there is hobble bush, lots of trees and wildlife like the ruffed grouse. Additionally, The trails were wet and muddy.
When we went to Cardigan there was also cultural examples of place. Like the trail markings or the trail maintenance. The Bridges on the trails are also examples of cultural place. On the top of the mountain people made rock statues called cairns that count as cultural place. Additionally, the fire tower on top of Mt. Cardigan made it special and different. And at Welton Falls people put in railings so we would not fall into the water. Also the AMC lodge, the food and the solar panels are cultural.
I was at Cardigan for 3 days Wednesday September 28, Thursday September 29 and Friday September 30
