Location:
Going on the Mt. Cardigan field trip was one of the most fun, tiring, beautiful, educational and creative trips I've ever gone on. One of my favorite parts was standing on top of the Mt. Cardigan summit and looking over the rest New Hampshire. When looking at a map, the Cardigan summit is North of South Peak, North East of Rimrock Mountain, South West of Firescrew Mountain, and North West of Orange Mountain. Another place that we went was Welton Falls, and the summit is South East of the falls. The Cardigan Summit is West of the AMC lodge, West of the town called Orange, and South East of the town called Alexandria. The absolute location of the cardigan summit is Latitude: North 43 degrees, 38 minutes, 58.7 seconds and Longitude: West 71 degrees, 54 minutes, 51.7 seconds. The cardigan summit is a beautiful place, and I hope that I will be able to go there again someday!

Place:
There were many things that were special and/or different about cardigan. The three examples listed are just a few of the many physical features of Cardigan. The first example, is that the top of Mt. Cardigan was very windy and cold. The summit was so cold that I could hardly hold my pencil because my fingers felt like frozen icicles! Another special and different thing that I saw was a large dead tree, hanging over the side of a clifflike overhang. I almost felt bad for the tree, hanging over the side like that. If I were that tree, I would have been screaming my head off, knowing that I could fall at any moment. But then again, it is just a tree. Last but not least, is the pond at the AMC lodge. That pond is full of wildlife and bugs, some that wouldn not even exist there unless the pond was extremely healthy. That just shows us how good the Appalachian Mountain Club takes care of their wildlife and environment.

In addition, there are also many special and/or different cultural features about cardigan. For example, the AMC Lodge was very special and different. When I was sitting in my room (which was overlooking the lawn), I could see a beautiful view of cardigan mountain that looked very pretty in the early morning sunlight. The second example is the cairns on top of various mountains. Some of them were so delicately put together, that they might have been stacked as high as about fifteen rocks! The last example is the helicopter that landed on firescrew. It seemed like the people inside it were doing some kind of a practice rescue mission. In conclusion, there are many special and/or different features about Cardigan Mountain. I hope I can go there someday and experience the icey cold, see the tree hanging over the cliff, the AMC pond, the AMC lodge, a helicopter, and all the gorgeous views again!

I was at Cardigan Mountain for 3 days in the second session. These days included Wednesday September 28, Thursday September 29 and we left on Friday September 30.
