Wake up!, calls Mrs Roberts from the hallway. Ugh, I say from my warm sleeping bag. After finally getting out of bed, I get ready for the long hiking day ahead. We head down to breakfast where we eat a nice meal of bacon, eggs and fruit. We make our bag lunches to eat on the trail. After we grabbed our packs then head out to meet our trail guides. Sadly, the night before, Toby had gotten sick so we had a new trail guide, TJ. After we introduced ourselves to him, we were off.Along the way we made many stops to look at cool things, do nature transects, rest and sketch. Slowly but surely we made it to PJ ledge where we ate a peaceful lunch with a view of the different mountains and forests below. We finished eating then faced the incline of Cardigan. Stopping frequently to catch our breath, we slowly made it to the Summit. Standing there I was in aw. There was a 360 degree view of beauty. Other mountains towered in the distance, lush forests with changing leaves below, windmills turned in the distance and buildings stood out. Standing there I realized how far we have come and how much movement had happened. We had traveled from Hopkinton, NH to Alexandria, NH then we travel from the lodge 3 miles to get to this summit. I was proud that I was able to hike it and that I was able to have this wonderful experience. After sketching the view and saying hello to another group, we started making our way west to the Firescrew summit. We carefully made it down the steep mountain side then made it Firescrew. Typical sketching, transtect and water break then we were off. Going down Firescrew was the worst part of that day.It was so steep and rocky so it took us a long time to get down. At this time I started to get frustrated. Our group was moving slowly and we were a half an hour late at this point. I was anxious to get back, take a shower and rest. I kept rolling my ankle and was done with hiking. I did not like the last part of that trip. Finally we made it back to the lodge, forty-five minutes late. I ran to the bunkroom through my stuff down then jumped in the warm shower. I felt so much better as I went down to dinner where lasagna was waiting. We ate that then had ice cream sundaes. That night was the campfire where we put on skits, told stories and sang songs. After we got ready for bed then Mr Woolner read us a story. By the time I got to the bunk room, I was exhausted. I got in my sleeping bag then fell right asleep.
