Bump, goes the bus as we turn in toward the AMC lodge. In the woods, hides this quiet place and the wilderness that surrounds it.
We file off the bus and head to the fire circle where we are introduced to our guides. Then the best part happens, we find out where our rooms are.
All of us run up the stairs to discover our home for the next 2 days. After we are settled in,
we get ready to go into the woods and discover new things. When we are getting ready, we had to change into warm clothes because it was cold outside. This is an example of human enviorment interaction because the enviorment made us change clothing because of the cold weather. We go outside to find our groups
and our trail guide leaders. I meet my groups trail guide, Toby, the start making our way to Welton Falls. We walk down the trail
a bit then make our first stop, a cellar hole. This cellar hole is another example of human environment interaction . Someone a long time ago decided to settle and build their house there. They had to clear out all the trees around it then dig to make the foundation in the ground. We finish there then continue down the trail. We keep going, occasionally stopping to look at things such as tip-toe trees (trees that stand up on their roots), Indian Cucumber, rivers, a divot in a tree, an Eastern Hemlock, bugs in a stream and different birches, but only briefly. Finally after an hour or so of walking, we made it to the falls. It was beautiful. Water fell from a cove to a small river below that flowed all the way down into other bodies of water. After staying there for a little bit, we decided we should head back. In record time we made it to the lodge. I was the first person to get a shower and was ready to have a wonderful taco dinner that night. After being one of the last people to get dinner because my table kept getting all questions wrong we ate. Then we went outside for the night time activity. Toby lead us blinded folded to the woods in the dark without flashlights. We played games that involved using other senses than sight then made it back to through the woods with full sight. That night Mr Woolner read to us a story then sent us to bed. My roommates and I fell right to sleep, excited for the of hiking day tomorrow.
