Introduction Paragraph-
Andros is located in the Bahamas and it is a low island. I know this because I certainly know that it is not a volcanic island because it is not a volcano, and I know that it's not a high island because high islands are formed by volcanos and if there are no volcanos that means that a high island can't be formed. To conclude, Andros is a low island!
Brief History Paragraph-
Who discovered Andros? As you know, Andros is an island in the Bahamas. Christopher Columbus discovered the Bahamas. Although, he did not discover Andros, the Spanish did. The Spanish first discovered Andros around the year of 1950. When the Spanish first discovered Andros, they named it Isla del Esperita Santo, which means the Island of of the Holy Spirit. There were also other various tribes/groups that have settled in Andros. For example, loyalists and their slaves settled in Andros in the 19th century. Also, seminole indians from Florida came first as visitors, then stayed as settlers. The group of Native Americans that lived in Andros before the discovery by the Europeans was the Lucayans, a subgroup of Taino people. The Spanish started to seize the Lucayans as slaves after a few years of Columbus' arrival, and by 1520 all Lucayans were removed. Today in the Bahamas the prime minister is Perry Christie, and the Queen is Elizabeth II!
Cool and Interesting Paragraph-
Andros is a very neat island to visit in the Bahamas. First off, Andros is the largest island in the Bahamas, and has a population of a little under 1,000 people! Andros is 100 miles long and 40 miles wide, and is the least explored island in the Bahamas chain. It is famous for the beauty of snorkeling and diving, as well as bonefishing. Andros is home to mesmerizing blue holes, and the third largest fringing barrier reef. Something interesting about the Bahamas is that there are wild pigs living and swimming in the oceans!
