My Day 2 at Cardigan

When I woke up on day 2, Cailey, Olivia, Riley, Hadley and I all went downstairs to the dining area to eat breakfast. For breakfast that day we had scrambled eggs with toast. After breakfast, I went back up to my room and packed for a long day of hiking. When I was ready I joined my group outside on the deck. My group leader Andy checked to make sure that everyone was prepared, and that we all had a good amount of water. We had to be extra prepared because we were going to hike Mt. Cardigan and Firescrew!

At about 9:00 AM my group already started to hike. Along the way we saw many different trees. We observed that the higher the elevation, the smaller the trees would be. We stopped at about 10:45 to have a quick snack and sketch. After the snack, we continued hiking. About every 20-30 minutes my group stopped and sketched. At about 11:45 we made it to the top of Firescrew! When we got to the top we stopped and had lunch.

After lunch we started to move up the mountain towards Cardigan! If you didn't know, movement is one of the five themes in geography. An example of movement is when my group hiked up Mt. Cardigan, and Firescrew. About an hour later my group made it to the top of cardigan! When we made it to the top, it felt like it was 10 degrees colder! My group stayed at the top for about 45 minutes, and we were able to do things like, take pictures, sketch, or eat a quick snack.

When we were done chilling at the top of Cardigan, we started to hike back down to the AMC lodge. We got back to the lodge just in time for our free time which started at 4:00 PM. During free time I played soccer outside just east of the lodge.

When free time was over my group met back up, and had a quick discussion about dinner. After the quick discussion we went inside the lodge to the dining area and sat down and had dinner. For dinner that night we had chicken with salad. It was delicious! After dinner we had dessert, for dessert we had a piece of spice cake.

After our delicious meals, I went upstairs and got my hats and gloves because we were going to be out by the fire which was east of the lodge. At the campfire we sang songs, and played games. After the campfire, I went inside and took my shower. When I was done my shower, I went downstairs in the living room area and listened to one of Mr. W's stories. After the story was over, I went back upstairs to my room, and got ready for bed!
