We first started hiking on the manning trial. The manning trail is in the Firescrew region. About 300 feet into the Manning Trail we found an Indian cucumber. As soon as we reached about a fourth of the way up the Manning Trail, we turned back around and started hiking back down. We sketched along this whole trip. We got back to the lodge around 4:30 pm. We had about an hour of time to do whatever we wanted. I played football and got changed into more comfortable clothes. Dinner was a 6pm. For dinner that day we had tacos and brownies. About 30 minutes after dinner ended, we all went outside to do a night hike with our hiking groups. We first played a game where we had to walk a quietly as we could, pretending that we were sneaking up on an animal. Then we put on blindfolds and all held on to each other while we walked on the trail. We came to a spot on the trail, we then sat down and Fern taught us different types of owl calls. One of the owl calls that we learned was the Screech Owl. Then we moved up to a more grassy area while Fern told us a story about pirates. Coincidentally, Mr. Woolner also told us a pirate story when we came back in from the night hike. After he told us his pirate story, we went back up to our bunk rooms for the rest of the night
Day 1
As we were driving up to the AMC Lodge, a bunch of kids on the bus were talking excitedly about the all hikes and walks that we would do. As we arrived, we were so excited to go to our bunk rooms, but, first, we had to do a group activity by the firepit. The firepit had a few stumps as chairs and they also had a few wooden benches to sit on.The fire pit is located in the region of the AMC yard. We started by the AMC counselors introducing themselves. We then moved on to play a few games. One game that we played was something like sharks and minos. We all picked an animal and the consoulers called our characteristics of certain animals. If your animal had that characteristic then you had to try to make it to the other side of the field without getting tagged by the counselors or by "trees". After we were done playing games we got our hiking and overnight bags and brought them up to our rooms. The boys were on the top floor and the girls were on the 2nd floor. After we unloaded all our stuff, and got all our hiking stuff, we went back down to the main floor and ate our lunch. Then, after lunch, we got into our assigned hiking groups. I was in Ferns group. The first thing we did was play a name game, which is where we learn everyone/s name and a little bit about them. Then we started hiking.
