The seventh grade took a trip to Cardigan Mountain to hike and have fun at the AMC lodge where we stayed. The absolute location of the summit of Mount Cardigan is north 43 degrees, 38 minutes, and 58.0 seconds laditude; and west 071 degrees, 52 minutes, and 52.7 seconds longitute. The relative location of the summit is in the white mountain region, near Newfound Lake and the AMC lodge, and east of Mt. Firescrew. Cardigan Mountain and the AMC lodge are in Alexandria, New Hampshire.

There are many things at the Mount Cardigan and Firescrew area that make it special and different. For physical differences, the summit was bare rock with a beautiful view of the lakes and mountains surrounding it. Also on the summit, there were cairns, glacial quartz rock and some tiny spruce trees. Many special trees lined the hiking trails, such as Basswood trees, Red Maple and American Beech, Hemlock, Ash and Moosewood trees. A very unique tree on one of Mount Cardigan's trails was what we called a "Maplelock" tree, which in other word was three trees twisted together; A hemlock, a maple, and another hemlock. Many other interesting trees were seen on the trails too, such as large, fallen trees, an a certain tree covered in spikes. There were many plants lining the trails as well, the majority of them being hobblebush and ferns, but also lots of indian cucumber and fungi.

There are many cultural things that make the Cardigan area special and different as well. Mt. Cardigan has a firetower on the summit, and windmills on one on the mountains near it. On one of the hiking trails, there is an old car and metal sturctures in the woods, and a toboggan sled. In the lodge, special and different things are the three floors: an entrance room/lunch area, a girls bunk floor, and a boys bunk floor. On the bunk room floors, there are two long hallways, with bunk rooms lining them. Each bunk room contains about 4 bunk beds and a dresser. Outside of the lodge, there is a campfire area and many wooden benches.
