The First Day

Day 1 at Cardigan Mountain My trip to Cardigan started as a normal school day morning with everyone trying to get out of the house. Once at school we put all our gear in the trailer and got on the bus. After waiting on the bus for half an hour we finally started our trip which meant a 45 minute drive on a bus full of yelling kids. When we arrived, we unpacked the trailer and went into our bunk rooms, boys on the top floor girls on the 3rd floor. After we met our counselors we got to explore the lodge. The second floor had a dining room, a lounge, and a kitchen. On bottom floor there was a boot room and a reading room. Then we went on our first hike to Welton Falls. On the way we stopped at an old house foundation to draw. About another half a mile or so and we came across a tipy toe tree. We drew this as well. Soon we arrived at the river that led to Welton Falls. We stopped here to catch little dragonfly larvae and crayfish. Finally we got to Welton Falls, it was amazing. The river went into a cave system and came out of a cave way up high above the rest of the river. We got a top view and got to go down past the steel post that were cemented into place with cables acting as guard rails. Back at the lodge we had dinner. Tacos, my favorite! After that we went on a night hike around the pond and played some games in the dark, I fell into a pile of thorn bushes. That was my day one adventure.
