Green Group D1B4
By, Jessie C
On day 2 of Cardigan we woke up and had a no ORT breakfast. We had bacon, eggs and fruit. We also had some hot chocolate and then got ready to go hiking. We got our lunches packed and headed out to go hiking. For my lunch I packed a cookie, apple and two granola bars. Our hiking group went to Firescrew from the AMC lodge. Our group started outto the trail up to Fire Screw, we stopped a couple times so that the rest of the group could catch up to us and so that we could sketch. We stopped at this big rock on the way up to rest and eat a snack. When we kept going there was a big opening so we could see everywhere. We kept going up the trail and there was this huge steep rock that we had to go up. We then ran to the top of the summit and looked out at the view. After we started going on the trail up to Cardigan on the saddle. We went up a really steep rock again to get to cardigan. Once again we ran to the top of the summit and looked at the view. We stopped there and had lunch for a while, did a sketch and took pictures. After everyone was done eating we started on the trail to South Peak not too far from Cardigan. We went through a ton of the forest and got to the peak where we sketched again. As we were on South Peak we saw another group heading up to cardigan the way we came down and we also saw a helicopter fly very close to the mountain. Then we went down the trail to go to Rims Rock the next mountain. On the way there Gretchen asked us questions about the forest and if we got them right we got a Swedish Fish. We reached the top of Rims Rock and again stopped for a snack, took pictures and sketched. When we were done we headed out for the last mountain, Orange. We went down the trail and when we finally got there we were so happy because we climbed all five mountains in one day. We climbed Cardigan, Firescrew, South Peak, Rims Rock and Orange. We sketched and took more pictures of the view. We couldn't believe we had climbed five mountains in one day. That's a good example of Movement we traveled from the AMC lodge to the top of all five mountains and back again. Then we started heading back for the lodge because we wanted to get back in time for our free hour. On our way back from Orange mountain Cameron noticed his camera was gone and he did not know where it was. We kept going because we could not go back now. We kept heading down on the path crossing a river on the way. We reached the first junction where we took a break. Then a while later we reached the second and last junction. We were heading down the trail where we saw a man sitting on a stump that we had seen earlier on a trail. He said he was waiting for us to come down here because he had found Cameron's camera on South Peak. Gretchen thought that was so cool so she told a story of something similar that happened to her. When we finally got back to the lodge most of us took showers and played 500. After our free time we had a no ORT dinner and had ice cream sundaes. We had lasana that night which was very good. Then got our pajamas on ready to go outside. They had the fire going when we came out so we all came around the campfire. We played games and told stories and did skits for each hiking group. When we were done at the campfire Mr.Woolner told us another story and then we all went to bed.
