September 24-27 2016

Place

Physical geography is not man made, unlike cultural. Some physical things at Cardigan are At the top of both Cardigan and Firescrew there are bare rock summits because not a lot can grow up there. Only a few of the trees can survive in this area, Fir trees and Spruce trees. These trees have branches on only one side of them because of the weather. Welton Falls is a beautiful waterfall located near the lodge the has huge glacial erratics following the whole trail. Are all special Physical examples because it was made by nature, Cultural is man made, Some examples of cultural is the lodge, stone walls, windmills, trails, cellar, tower on Cardigan, the food the people at AMC make for us, etc.

Location

Location is a big part of the 5 themes of geography. Location It shows where something is in the world. There are 2 types of location, relative and absolute. The relative location of summit of Cardigan is near Newfound Lake and the AMC lodge, east of Mt. Firescrew, Cardigan Mountain and the AMC lodge is in Alexandria, New Hampshire Absolute Location gives the latitude and longitude. For example, Cardigan mountain is latitude 43 degrees North 38 minutes and Longitude 58.5 seconds 71 degrees West 54 minutes and 51.7 seconds.

We were at Cardigan for 3 days Sunday the 24th We hiked to Welton Falls. Monday the 25th We hiked up Firescrew and Cardigan. Tuesday the 27th Grechen's group got split up, so we hiked to Welton falls again.
