Location
The summit of Mt. Cardigan is located atop Mt. Cardigan in Alexandria, NH. It is northeast of the AMC Lodge. Just a few miles east of the summit is Newfound Lake. Also, the summit is not too far west of Welton Falls. Additionally, it is located north of the town of Grafton, NH. The absolute location of this point is N43 degrees 38 minutes 59 seconds W71 degrees 54 minutes 53 seconds.
Place
At Mount Cardigan, specifically the AMC Lodge, there is a lot of cultural geography. First, the hiking trails. Throughout and up the mountain, there are multiple trails. Although these are on/up a natural mountain, people had to cut down trees in order to create them. Also, they had to paint blazes along the trail. This is cultural to the AMC lodge because people visit the AMC Lodge to hike. Also, games led by the AMC are cultural geography. On the first day, the AMC guides had to entertain us until our rooms were ready. Therefore, since they are fun and active people, we went outside and played some games. Both of these things are cultural geography because they are what the AMC guides and staff do to make Mount Cardigan a fun place to be.
Also at Mount Cardigan, there is a lot of physical geography. First of all, the Bailey Brook. This is a stream running down the mountain. It is a natural stream, therefore it is a physical feature of the mountain. Another feature of Physical Geography on Mount Cardigan is the potholes in and around Welton Falls. The water from the falls eroded the rock surrounding it, therefore not only creating the falls, but creating the potholes. They are basically just holes in the rock. From afar, they look like they went all the way through a rock, leaving a short tunnel. However, up close, you can see that they are just holes. These examples are all physical geography because they were caused by/are nature.
I was at Mount Cardigan on Sunday, September 25th, Monday, September 26th, and Tuesday, September 27th.
