Adventurous Mt. Cardigan Adventure Trip

Location

At Cardigan State Park, there are a few mountains including Mt. Cardigan, Mt. Firescrew, Orange Mountain, etcetera. This state park is up around Dorchester, Orange, Groton and Alexandria. It just so happens, that on top of Mt. firescrew, there is a small bog. It is surrounded by a couple of spruce trees, but it is very easily spotted. The absolute location of this bog is: N43degrees39'21.9", W071degrees54'29.2". This bog is north east of the summit of Mt Cardigan. The AMC lodge is southeast of it, and east of that is the Welton Falls. Overall, the bog's location is pretty cold, (since it is on top of a mountain), and it is pretty popular considering that it is near bigger landmarks.

Place

Mt. Cardigan is a very intricate and interesting place. It is different then most places, because it includes apple trees, lodges, etcetera. Mt Cardigan State Park is a very interesting place. Some of the features in Mt. Cardigan State Park are physical and made by nature such as streams, waterfalls, boulders and more. There is a broad range of bushes and trees making Mt. Cardigan State Park very special. An example of a physical feature there is Welton Falls, which is a large waterfall with a cave on the side of it. It falls into a large body of water, maybe about 50 feet long. Another example is the bog on top of Mt Firescrew, which is completely natural and is home to many water plants on the mountain. These are a lot of the natural features of Mt. Cardigan State park.

There are not only natural features on Mt. Cardigan, but cultural ones too. These features include lodges and stuff built by a human. A great example of this is the fire tower on top of Mt. Cardigan. This fire tower has to flights of stairs that go up to a small cabin at the top. This was mostly made out of wood, concrete, and metal. Also going along with the fire tower, the Fire Warden's cabin, which is placed just a little bit away from the tower, is also a cultural feature on the mountain. Everyday the Fire Warden would hike up to the top of the mountain, get up into the fire tower, and look for fires around the park. The AMC lodge is another example of a cultural feature there, and that is where are hiking groups slept and ate breakfast lunch and dinner. These are some of the natural and cultural physical features of Mt. Cardigan State Park.
