The First Day

The first thing I did when I woke up was get dressed. Then, I put my suitcase in my mom's car, and had some breakfast, an everything bagel. When I got to school, almost everyone was there and had put their bags in the trailer. After I put my bag in, I was told to wait with everyone else until the rest of the kids showed up. Once everyone was there, we got on the bus and left. There was nothing much to do on the bus, so I read Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. When we got there, we were told to go over to the place where the campfire (not burning!) is, and to put our backpacks behind us on some benches. We then after that played some games. When done, we got our backpacks and grabbed our luggage and went upstairs. Once two floors up, we were given our room number. I put my things away and packed my backpack to go hiking. After that, I headed downstairs onto the patio to listen to some instructions and to see who my hiking leader was. It was Andy! The hiking leaders decided that we would have lunch. I had a tuna fish sandwich, a Capri Sun lemonade and Pringles. Then we cleaned up and went outside. We stretched a little bit and then we were off! We hiked for a little while until we came to a stream with some big rocks and did some sketching, then we went back on to walking again. Soon we came to another stream and had to cross over it. Everyone made it to the other side with no difficulty. We finally got to a place with many pine needles - a pine neddle region! We took a break and listened to Quinn tell us what a hobblebush is. We also saw a small waterfall that was really cool. We walked a bit farther and then turned around to go back to the lodge. We were almost there when Andy told us to sit down and relax. We were in an Spruce Tree region. Afterwards Andy gave us M&Ms! Then we went back to the lodge and got an hour of free time. At the lodge we were near the region of Cardigan, and Cardigan is in the region of New Hampshire. During some of the free time, I played Am Stram Gram (a game I was taught in French class) with some of my friends. After free time we had dinner in the the dinner region. But before we could go and serve ourselves, we had a little quiz on moose, bears and other things. It was fun. Tacos were served. After we finished, we went outside and played some more games with our hiking groups. Then we made a conga line and went into the forest with blindfolds on! Once we knew where we were, we tried to listen for owls. After that we went back inside and got into our pajamas. Then Mr. Woolner told everyone a bedtime story about Blackbeard the pirate. Finally, we went upstairs to bed.

Now there were two days left, Thursday and Friday. Back to homepage
