1. Write down the main idea of the chapter "Climate" here.

"Wind and water carry rainfall and the suns warmth around the world to create different climates." In my words, different things such as water and wind effect the worlds climate and temperature.

2. Reading Check Questions on 54- What is the difference between weather and climate?

Weather is the exact or changes that happen to the air in a short time. Climate however, is what people usually refer summer as hot and dry and winter cold and snowy. Climate is the long period of time, and what everyone pretty much knows the temperature is going to be.

3. Applying Map Skills Question 1. In which general direction does the wind blow over North America?

The general direction of the wind in North America goes blows west.

4. Applying Map Skills Question 2. What winds did European sailers use to get to South America and the islands north of it?

The European sailors used the northeasterly winds to get to South America and the islands north of it.

5. Answer the Reading Check Question on page 55- How does the tilt of the Earth affect climate? (This is a difficult, tricky, complicated question. You can NOT just copy the answer out of the textbook. Because the answer is NOT EXACTLY found in the textbook. You will have to figure it out, think about the notes we took and discussed, and ... re-read page 55 to answer this well. <

The tilt of the earth affect climate because if the Earth is tilted one way then there are direct rays of sunlight hitting that place. However, if the Earth is tilted in that same way then, the parts that arent directed right at the sun get indirect sunlight and that is not a lot of sun. This affects the climate because of how much sun a place gets.

6. How does this relate to the Voyages of Columbus? Answer, and put in a link to YOUR Columbus Wind Project.

This relates to the Voyages of Columbus by the winds going in different directions. At first, they started going south then it changed and went west. Read more about this in my project, linked above.
