Day 2 at Cardigan

I woke up at 6:55am and we got ready and went down to breakfast. We ate it family style, we had eggs and bacon. After, we made sandwiches and we put them in our bags for the hike. Everyone packed up, and we moved outside, one of the themes of geography, movement. Andy talked to us and he chose me to be the team leader on the way up to the mountain. Mrs. Santoro joined us to go on the hike today. Then, we moved to the Manning Trail and headed up to Firescrew. We moved from the lodge to the Manning Trail, then eventually Firescrew. On the way up, we stop and sketched a lot. This time Andy put out a line transit and we had to write down all the plants and trees that were on that line. We stopped at this really cool flat rock and had a snack. We had trail mix and apricots, and Andy made sure that we didnt reach our hand in but that someone poured it out on both of our hands!

After the break we headed up Firescrew more until we got to the summit of it. Everyone thought we made it to the top of the mountain but it was a false summit! Our group stopped for lunch on one of them and we did another line transit there. This happened like 4 times before we got to the real summit. Quinn and Lance were doing handstands on one of the cliffs. Maddy, Quinn and I made a joke that I was B1 which is boss one, Maddy was B2, and Quinn was B3. After we made it to the summit of Firescrew we moved from there to the summit of Cardigan on the Mowglis Trail. Finally, we made it to the top of Firescrew and the view was amazing. It was a little chilly and windy but it was nice because I was hot from hiking up. There was a lookout tower too! Eventually, we went from the top of Cardigan making our way back down the mountain to the lodge. It was a little rough at first because it was very steep and it hurt my toes a little. We made it back down to the lodge and it was free time. I showered and hung out with my friends outside. Finally when it was time for dinner we had lasagna. We also had mini ice cream sundaes for dessert. We had a bonfire for our night activity and did mini skits. When the fire died, Mr. Woolner read to us again. The story was written by his uncle. That was my 2nd day at Cardigan mountain.
