Day 1 at Cardigan
Mr.Woolner was taking attendance with all of the kids on the bus in the region of the High School Parking Lot, myself across from my friend Abby. After he took attendance, he got off the bus and the doors closed behind him. We drove out and started on 89 going to the region where Cardigan is. It is partly in Alexandria, NH and partially in Orange, NH. When we finally got there, everyone got off the bus and went beside the lodge where the fire pit is It is the in the region of AMC Cardigan Reservation and then we did a group activity. It was a twisted version of fishy fishy cross my ocean. After, we got assigned to our groups, and did another activity with our group. My group leader was Andy, Lance Whitehead and Finns Mom were the parents in our group. I was ecstatic when I found out that Maddy and Katelyn were in my group. Then we got our bags and went to our rooms and settled in the lodge which is another region.
Next, we got our hiking boots on and went out on a hike. We went to Welton Falls which is a region but it is also its own state forest. On the way there we had to stop a lot to sketch. We brought a bagged lunch there and ate it on the hike. We stopped at two streams, one on the way up and one on the way down. The streams are regions also, they were part of the Fowler River. At the waterfall there was a cave we could walk into, and Vincent went up on the side of the waterfall. When we got back down to the lodge we had free time. Everyone took showers and I went outside to watch people play 500 which seemed like a really fun game.
Dinner was set up by a group and we had tacos for dinner. They were so good! For dessert we had brownies which were also very delicious. After dinner each group split up and did a team bonding/night activity. We all got blindfolded which is a region which was an open field and had to walk single file in the dark and none of us could see, even Andy! Once we reached our destination, we sat on the ground which was in the Welton Falls State Forest region and Andy did some owl and bird calls. Finn was hiding behind us and he jumped out and scared all of us and he got send back to the lodge. When we all went back into the lodge, everyone sat in the living room and Mr.Woolner read a short story about Blackbeard and all the pirates! Abby C. and I fell asleep on the couch, we were so tired. Everyone went back up to their beds and that was Day 1 at Cardigan Mountain.
