Red group (D2 B4)
On our last day at Cardigan I woke up early, around 6:15 AM. I jumped out of bed and started to pack. I gathered up my sleeping bag and stuffed it in its sack. Once everything was in my bag I changed on my bed and hopped down. It was 7:15. I went downstairs and joined the rest of the grade. Again, there was hot chocolate so I rushed over and got some, I can never resist hot chocolate! Soon we are called over to sit and to be served breakfast. We are served french toast and melon. I do not like french toast very much so I douse it in syrup and eat it. Soon we are all done eating and are called up to make our lunches. This time I get a sugar cookie because last time I had gotten a chocolate chip one. Once we finish that we go downstairs and put on our hiking boots. Then it is time for us to meet with our groups. My group has two new people and Gretchen.
We meet out on the field and discuss our conclusion to our Canadian Mayflower experiment. Soon we are the last group left at the lodge, and we go across the parking lot to the pond. Josh shows us our Identification Key and we go to work. Soon we have caught many bugs and it is time to identify them. While we are doing that, Ben catches a frog! We let it back into the water and go back to identifying the rest of the bugs, once we identify them we dump them back into the pond and take a break. Some of us sit on the picnic table or bench which were placed in nature by the AMC Lodge crew. Once we finish our snacks, Gretchen each gives us a marker and tells us to go find something in the woods that matches it. I find a purple flower that is fairly similar to the color I have and rush back. Even though I had to pick it, leaving a trace, it still counted. We all accomplished the goal except for Juliet, once we help her, we pack our bags and head up the main trail to for a while. Then we stop and play Camouflage.
We continue on until we reach the entrance to the campsites, there we learn how to use a compass and then we walk into the campsites. We get a little booklet and we have to use the compass to point us in the correct direction. Soon we end up at a picnic table under a gigantic tree and we stop and eat our lunch. Then we continue on and end up on a ski trail. As we hike up the trail I notice something old and manmade appearing at the top. When we get to the top I see that there is a gear that must have turned a conveyor belt and across from it is a car! The car is all rusted and was probably made by humans a long time ago!.Then we venture back down the trail and back to the main entrance to the campsites. Oh! I had not even noticed those signs, the letters that are carved into it and painted white were placed in nature by humans!
Soon we got back to the lodge and played Camouflage again and then we had a snack break. Once everyone was done with their snack we played Ninja while waiting for the other groups. But pretty soon, it was time to leave. Boy did I have a great time with the instructors, and I definitely noticed all the human environment interaction!
