My Amazing Cardigan Trip
Blue Group
Mount Cardigan is an amazing place to go hiking and explore the outdoors. You hike up to the waterfall, which is a beautiful sight to see, with some more great things to observe on the way up. You can see the old cellar from where a building used to be. You may be intrigued to do some research about it and learn something new. Another astonishing thing, is there is a place were three trees are in one! A Red Maple and an Eastern Hemlock grew together to leave people in wonder. Tippy Toe trees are very unique, the roots are spread so there is space in between. And guess what? You can those at Cardigan as well. You can see trees and plants such as the Eastern Hemlock, Red Maples,TippyToe trees, Sugar Maple, Goosefoot Maple, Beech, Hobble Bush, Ferns, Birches, White Ash, Spruce, Lekin, Fir, Bigalow, Partridge Berry, Dragon Plantae, Pin Cherry, and Scotch Pine.
You can also see some mushrooms such as the Oyster Mushrooms and the Fly Agaric, which is poisonous. The Indian Cucumber is something you might find on the hike also. It looks like a normal plant, but when you dig it up, you will find a white thing at the end of the stem. That is an Indian Cucumber which you may eat. On the way up to the summit, you can stop at PJ Ledge to see an astonishing view. You can even see the lodge from there! At the top of Firescrew, you may see a Merlin, which is a rare bird. Finally, you will reach the top where you may feel like you're at the top of the world. You will probably see other hikers who look like ants from where you will be. On the way down, you could see Glacial Erratic rock. The lodge is incredible and you may see marks on the trails to tell you that you are going the right way. That is the AMC lodge helping out to make your experience great. Overall, Cardigan is amazing.
This whole trip took a total of three days. I was on the second sessoin which took place on September 28th to the 30th.
We were there on Wednesday , Thursday, and Friday.
