Location Paragraph

Mount Cardigan is located in Orange, New Hampshire which is considered to be within the Western part of the state. It took us about an hour and ten minutes to get to Mount Cardigan Lodge to begin our hike. The bus took us on the routes of I-89 N and US-4 to get there. When we got there, there was a lot of fall foliage in the trees around us. There were multiple hikers already there hiking the trails. A clear blue sky and a cool temperature made it perfect for hiking. It was the perfect time to be at this location. Mount Cardigans coordinates are 43.6498 degrees North and 71.9148 degrees West. It took us about five hours and thirty minutes to get to the top of Mount Cardigan including stopping to sketch. The hike up was about 3 miles which made it 6 miles to fully complete. Overall, this was a perfect location for our Geography class hiking trip.

Place Paragraphs

There are many things that are special and different about Cardigan Mountain. First, there are many physical differences that make it special. For example, Mount Cardigan is very cold and windy at the top of the summit. Therefore, there are no trees at the top. There are big overhanging granite rocks there too. There is a pond at the top of the mountain called the alpine bog. It is very pretty at this time of year.

There are also many cultural differences too. The railing at Welton Falls shows a great example of this. Through the many years that railing has been there, it has survived through harsh weather. The railing was practically falling over, and it was no longer supportive. There were also trail markers on the trail that have been there for a long time. The markers are starting to fade. The bridges on the nature walk allow you to cross parts of the trail so it would keep you dry. The tower at the top of Mount Cardigan was built around 1903. That was 113 years ago. Overall, there are many physical and cultural differences that exist at Cardigan Mountain.
