The West Indies are part of an underwater chain of mountains formed by volcanoes. In the drawing above, you will see the "red dot" which is an active volcano called Montsterrat. In fact, the West Indies are actually High Islands because they have really good arable soil and because they used to have dormant volcanoes.

The Bahamas, Greater Antilles and the Lesser Antilles make up the West Indies. On the map above, you will see the Bahamas at the top, the Lesser Antilles near the bottom near the countries of Trinidad and Tabago and the Greater Antilles above that. In addition, the Greater Antilles are mostly made up of earth's crust which makes them continental islands. Furthermore, the Bahamas and the Lesser Antilles are considered low islands because they are in "c, u and o" shapes.

3. History- Name four groups who have influenced the culture of the Caribbean region.

Spainiards, Europeans, French and Dutch have influenced the culture of the Caribbean region. The reason being is because they all consist of people who visited and caused a change in the history/future of the Caribbean region.

4. Government- How is Cuba different from every other country in the Western Hemisphere?
