On the morning that I went to Cardigan, I had to brush my teeth, confirm that all of my stuff was packed according to how I planned and eat breakfast. After doing that, my sister, my dad and I rode off to the school at about 7:45. When we got there, some of my friends were chatting with their sweatshirts on and I saw Mr. Woolner and a couple parents. When I got out of my car, I grabbed my nike bag, my backpack and my wrapped up sleeping bag and put it into the trailer that Mr. Woolner had parked. After doing so, I chatted with my peers while I waited for the other kids in my grade to arrive. 5 minutes later when everyone had arrived, everyone started to bunch up and head towards the bus as we were about to leave. Once, I arrived to my seat the bus driver stood up and addressed her rules and then she twisted the key and we were off. Approximately 20 minutes into the trip, the bus broke down and everybody was screaming with excitement for a reason that I do not know the answer to. Anyway, after a long 3 minutes went by, the bus started back up and we were off again. After 35 minutes we had finally arrived at the AMC Lodge. When all of us got off the bus, we all dismissed grabbing our bags from Mr. Woolners trailer and walked over to a small stretch of clear land and played a few games with our instructors. After doing so, the instructors insisted we sit and then they introduced themselves by saying their name and where they were from. Shortly after doing that, the instructors called out the names of the people who were in their hiking group for the three days and then all of us went to our instructor. I happened to get Josh as my instructor and he brought us over to the other side of the lodge so we could sit down and eat the bag lunch that our parents had packed for us. When our stomachs felt full we all stopped and played a couple of games and talk about how we were going to keep the trails and land clean and leave no trace which fits in the theme human environment interaction . Once we were done with the games we decided to create a group name and came up with the name Moldy Starfruit which we later changed to Moldy Starfish. Finally after meeting with our group members and meeting or instructor, we got to grab our bags and bring them up to our room and see our bunkmates. Now that our rooms were set up we met up with our instructor and hiking group again and got ready to hike. However, before we did the hiking, we had to pull out a map and discuss how we were supposed to get to Welton Falls. After looking at the map, we realized where we were going and we headed towards the trail. While we were on the trail we walked by an old abandoned cellar hole that was made out of stone bricks and eventually we had to do some sketches. After doing the sketches and meeting up with one of the other hiking groups we had to cross a little river by hopping across some rocks. Then about 1 hour later we made it to Welton Falls and saw the cable fence and a Dasani bottle that somebody must have left so we picked it up to leave no trace and stayed to look at the beautiful water fall. During our break, Josh shared some snack with us and we played a game involving tree domination on a rocky area where we had to be very careful since we were near the edge of the waterfall. I thought this was another example of human envoirnment interaction because the envoirnment gave us a reason to be more careful. Soon when everybody was ready to head back we left and headed back the way we came from. On the way back we did a few more sketches and one of the sketches was of some Bearded Tooth that was located at N 43 degrees 39 minutes 22.2 seconds, W 71 degrees 52 minutes 5.9 seconds at an elevation of 1213 ft. Once we made it back to the lodge at around 4:30 to 4:45 we went up to our rooms for free time until about 5:45. At 5:45 we went back outside in the dark with our hiking groups and made a homemade skit on how noodles are made since we were having spaghetti for dinner that night. The lesson behind the story was to tell everybody not to waste the spaghetti and to take less first before more. Finally, after a delicious dinner and a long day, everybody got to go up to their rooms and take a shower and do their business before they came downstairs for story time before bed. When I got down stairs, I found a seat next to Mr. Woolner and he read a story about the legendary pirate Blackbeard on how he died in Ocracoke North Carolina. After the great short story, everybody started to walk up stairs to their bedrooms and we all went to bed.
