by Brett F (day 2)
When we were at the top of Firescrew eating lunch a military z-something flew over and did a couple laps over us and waved and tried to land but didn't. Emily Fleegles dad Jeff said it was a test for a perhaps new army pilot. Jeff also said that they use this region a lot to practice landing. They do it it to practice something like "cross wind landing" where wind comes from both directions which is a good test for potential pilots. Apparently in the region of mountains that Cardigan is a part of the wind just blows at fast speeds off one mountain into a little valley then shoots up at another mountain. The mountain region of cardigan state park has 5 mountains that have valleys perfect for wildlife also like bunny rabbits which there was one on top of Firescrew that got scared by the helicopter.
