The AMC Cardigan lodge is located at the bottom of Mt. Cardigan. It is exactly 43 degrees, 38 minutes, 58.5 seconds north, and 71 degrees, 52 minutes and 40.5 seconds west. It is at the of Shem Valley road in Alexandria, NH. The lodge is approximately five and a half miles Northwest of the center of Bristol, NH. It is about 1391 ft in elevation but the elevation on GPS #7 seemed to be of.

Mount Cardigan and the AMC lodge are both special and different in their own way. Some physical features that make Cardigan special are giant overhanging rocks that form caves, the flagging on the spruce trees from the cold, strong winds, and the bare granite summit on the top of Cardigan. The Cardigan trails are wet and muddy from the tiny streams that lead into the Bailey Brook. Along the trails you can find many cucumber roots to eat. You can also visit Welton Falls which is on the the Lower Manning Trail.

Some cultural differences that are at Cardigan include the fire tower, the trail markers and the bridges that suspend over the brooks and streams. Other things that are cultural are the steel railing that keeps people from falling into the basin at the bottom of Welton Falls. The AMC Cardigan lodge is also a cultural feature of Cardigan. The cooks make family style meals that warm and delicious. All these things are examples of things that make Cardigan different and special.

We were at Cardigan for 3 days, Sunday, September 25, Monday September 26 and Tuesday September 27.
