Day 3: Movement

It was the final morning at the lodge and I was sad, I got up and took a quick shower to wake myself up, then I got dressed and went downstairs, I had only just made it in time for breakfast because I woke up late so I stuffed down my food as fast as I could which happened to be sausage and toast today me and the people at my table made sure there was no extra O.R.T and for the first time the session as a whole had zero O.R.T so we were all incredibly proud of ourselves. Everyone was talking about how they would start using the O.R.T system with their family and that they will bring it with them when we go back home and everyone was singing the song so they would remember it. Soon like both previous days we got all dressed, met with our group and left for our final hike. Today we would be going to Welton Falls and on the way there we saw cool ruins of the cellar of a house from the eighteenth century.

We also got to play and have fun in the river, Fern let us eat woodsorrel which tastes kind of weird, we also got to eat more Indian Cucumbers and I swore to myself that when I got home I would look for Indian Cucumbers around my house. We arrived at Welton Falls and did a ton more drawings, too quickly it was over and we were heading back again to the lodge but this time there would be no hour of free time, then dinner, a story and then heading to bed, no none of that would happen because basically the first thing we did when we got back was get our stuff all together and get on the bus. I was sad but I knew I would not forget this place because I brought a lot of things back with me, some are real physical things like the leaves I gathered or the piece of bark or even the twisted up sticks. However most of the things I brought back with me could not be seen because they were memories and ideas, memories of O.R.T, of Fernlandia, of campfire songs, and funny stories. Sometimes I like to think that I changed the AMC Lodge by being there, that I made some kind of a difference or impact, but I can never really be sure if I did or not. The one thing I do know though is that the AMC Lodge changed me and I will walk away from it a very different person then who I was when I first entered.
