Day 2: Regions
I woke up that morning to the sound of talking, I was finding it hard to wake up so I took a shower to refresh myself, then I hurriedly got dressed and went downstairs to get some hot chocolate. Breakfast was mainly consisted of eggs and bacon and me and my table did our best to make sure that there would be zero O.R.T, my hiking group and I cleaned up after breakfast while the other groups went back upstairs to make sure they were ready. Everyone went downstairs and packed their lunch and just like that we were on the trail again. My group was going on the same trail we had last time, the Manning trail, except this time we were going past where we had before and continuing past the point where we had turned around the previous day. The going was hard, my legs started cramping up and my toes hurt because of the boots I was wearing. Still it was fun and I learned a lot of things too, like Spruce trees grow all over the Mt Cardigan region and are the only trees that can survive at the top of Mt Firescrew. I also learned that Mt Cardigan and the surrounding mountains are part of the Alexandria Region so I figured spruce must be everywhere around there too. My group went to Mt Firescrew first and ate lunch on the top of it, that was also where we did our last sketch because we had decided to get them all over with on the way up so on the way down we could just hike. We were all sitting around getting our energy back when a helicopter started circling the mountain on one of its circles it came within fifty feet of where the group was standing and the noise was deafening, all of us thought that the thing sticking out of the front of the helicopter was a huge gun but Mr. Fleegle(Jeff), who had been in the military, told us that it was actually just an inflight fueling mechanism. He also told us that the helicopter was likely practicing for an emergency evacuation off the mountain. Soon the helicopter flew away and we started hiking over the saddle between Firescrew and Cardigan.
When we reached Cardigan we stayed there for a while to enjoy the view before we started on the trek down the mountain. While going down we went down an incredibly steep ski trail that was covered in ferns as high as my my waist the whole group decided to name it Fernlandia after the name of our trail guide Fern. After this we started to call ourselves her little fiddleheads because we all liked her so much. We were the first group to get back so we had a lot of time to chill in our bunk rooms and talk, soon the hour was up and we ate dinner. Then we went outside to the campfire and we sang songs and heard funny stories about purple tigers. Then we went inside and Mr Woolner told us stories written by a famous author he's related to and then we all went to bed.
