Main Idea: "Wind and water carry rainfall and the suns wamth around the world to create different climates."Or in my own words, Climates are created by rainfall and the suns warmth being carried around the world by wind and water.

3. Applying Map Skills Question 1. In which general direction does the wind blow over North America? The wind generaly blows Southwest over North America.
4. Applying Map Skills Question 2. What winds did European sailers use to get to South America and the islands north of it? Northeasterly Trade Winds.
5. Answer the Reading Check Question on page 55- How does the tilt of the Earth affect climate? Earths tilt effects the climate because it causes the suns rays to hit some places directly and others indirectly based on the tilt of the earth.
6. How does this relate to the Voyages of Columbus? Answer, and put in a link to YOUR Columbus Wind Project. The Hadley Cells show the direction of the winds. Columbus went South on the way there to catch the wind traveling West. Then when he was traveling back he went North and hit a deadzone. This was the equator. He continued North and got the winds that were blowing West and he used those to get back.
