This is a picture of all of the spruce and balsams that were abundant at the summit of both Mt. Cardigan and Firescrew.
The location of the cardigan base lodge is at exactly north: 43 degrees, 38 minutes, and 58.4 seconds. And west: 71 degrees, 52 minutes, 40.5 seconds. The elevation was 1393 ft. The lodge is northeast of Orange and west of Welton Falls state forest. It is also far from any industrial things so the air is clean and wildlife thrives. The lodge is very close to Mt. Cardigan and Firescrew so they are easily accessible to hike. Also the lodge is only 100 feet from a pond that is great for studying water life. Over all, the location of cardigan is great.
Place
Cardigan was a very special place. There was both physical and cultural things there that made it special. To start, there was something called ORT, which was leftover food on your plate. Every night we would see how much ORT we had and came pretty close to 0 lbs of it. Another thing was the trails that led to many different places. There was also the games we played. On the first day we played a Predators and Prey game and throughout the hikes we did other small fun games. There was also apple trees which were planted by humans but, those are also physical.
Speaking of physical things, let's talk about some of the ones at cardigan. First of all, there was Firescrew and Mt. Cardigan, both of which are amazing mountains. On the second day we hiked both and it was awesome. Another cool physical feature was Welton Falls. My group went there on the third day and it was incredible, we got to see an awesome waterfall and explore the caves above it on the river. Overall, Cardigan was very special and I hope I go again someday.
We were at Cardigan for 3 days, Day 1 we did a nature hike, Day 2 we hiked Cardigan and Firescrew, and Day 3 we hiked to Welton falls.
