Introduction Paragraph-

The Dominican Republic has many natural recources such as nickel, bauxite, gold, silver, and arable land. They have some actually very big problems such as water shortages, soil that is eroding into the sea, that is causing the coral reefs to die, and deforestation. The Dominican Republic is in the middle of the hurricane belt, and because of this they get a lot of bad storms from June to October, this may cause occasional flooding, and sometimes there are periodic droughts.

Brief History Paragraph-

In 1492 Columbus explored and claimed the island, that was further named Hispaniola. In the 17th century the Spanish maintained control, the French had even formed a collony on the island. The island started out as Santo Domingo, it was eventualy overpowered by Haitians for about 22 years until independence as the Dominican Republic in 1844. The Dominican Republic shares the island with Hispaniola. The eastern 2/3 of the island belongs to the Dominican Republic and the western 1/3 of the island belongs to Haiti.

Cool and Interesting Paragraph-

The Dominican Republic is an island but shares it with Haiti. The whole island in all is about 48,320km, that is slightly more then 2 times the size of New Hampshire. They mostly speak Spanish and a little English. The Dominican Republic is one of the most visited places in the Caribbean. It is also home to the Caribbians talest peak and largest lake. Baseball is one of the many favorite sports there.
