This is a quiz that was found in the Sunday January 3 2010 Concord Monitor newspaper…. Answers are there, too. You need to read the question, and… if you KNOW the correct answer, that’s good… but you must still VERIFY that correct answer. And write out your source for that correct answer. And, MOST importantly, I want to you also write out your thinking process- especially for the questions you do NOT know the answer to. Can you eliminate any of the answers? How? And how did you search for the correct answer? Did you search the QUESTION, or did you search the possible answers?
Write it out! Be complete. A good paragraph per answer is what we are after here…
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. What are the three places that make up the points of the Bermuda Triangle?
Im going to use google to figure this question out.I think it is {a}.“what are the 3 points of the bermuda triangle”
I used these search terms to find out the answer.several websites were listed.these are called snippits
The answers are Miami,Bermuda,Puerto rico.this is the link to the website that I used https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20061127021233AAPfIx6.

I am going to use dogpile.I’m using this search engine because I have to.I know of a wood called purnambuco and its tropical so it has to be brazil.I used the search terms:purnambuco, brazil, and refice.I started to type Pernambuco and answers came up.The answer is C,this is the link that I used to find out: http://pages.uoregon.edu/sergiok/brasil/recife.html

I am going to use bing because I have to.I think the answer is B.I think this is the answer because japan is a very old place and 1,000 years is a long time so that is why I chose B.I am going to use the search terms Nara ,Japan, old, first capital city.As I typed in bing answers were not coming up as I typed.I still had no results besides for Wikipedia.I have found a site from reading snippets and I saw that most of the answers were 1300 years ago so there’s my answer.this is the website I used: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nara,_Nara

4.The Northern Pacific Gyre lies in the Pacific Ocean between Japan and the west coast of the United States. What does it contain?
I am going to use duck duck go because I have to.I think the answer is E.I think this is the answer because I heard of a giant ball of trash in the ocean somewhere so I’m going to use that information to decide what my answer is.The search terms I’m going to use are northern pacific gyre, contain. As soon as I typed in North pacific answers popped up and I found out that is was B. Here’s the link that I used: http://scribol.com/environment/waste-and-recycling/the-north-pacific-gyre-100-million-tons-of-garbage-and-growing

I am going to compare 4 different search engines for this answer.I think the answer is C.The reason I’m doing this is because I have to.The search terms I’m gonna use are Hagia,Sophia, where, discovery.I am going to use 4 search engines to be very presice. The search engine I’m using are this answer are Google,Bing,Dogpile, and Duckduckgo. For Bing the answer I got were Istanbul, this is the link: http://www.history.com/topics/middle-ages/videos/the-hagia-sophia-
cathedral. Google says that it is Istanbul as well. Here’s the link that I use http://www.pallasweb.com/deesis/history.html.
Duckduckgo says it was also found in turkey. Here’s the link: http://www.hagiasophia.com/listingview.php?listingID=1
As soon as I typed mosaic answers came up and one of them was the one that I wanted to answer this question.I’m going to use Dogpile now to see if it is accurate. As soon as I typed in the letters things started to pop up and the answer came up as well. The answer that dogpile got was turkey as well. Most of the websites on dogpile were links to hotels and stuff. The answer though was turkey. Here’s the link. http://www.viator.com/Istanbul-attractions/Hagia-Sophia-Aya-Sofya-tours-tickets/d585-a918?pref=204. The answer I got from all of them was Istanbul,Turkey.
So I was wrong the answer was A.
6.If you want to go whitewater rafting on the Kampar River, where do you have to go?
We are going to do an advanced search. We
are only doing to look for “edu”.I am going to use
google for this one.The answer I got was in Malaysia.I had to scroll down a lot because most of the
links were all hotels and surfing websites. The link
that I got is http://seasiavisions.library.cornell.edu/?f%5Bimage_date_tesim%5D%5B%5D=+1900%2F1909&f%5Bimage_format_tesim%5D%5B%5D=drawings&f%5Bimage_geo_tesim%5D%5B%5D=+Indonesia--Sumatra--Kampar+River&f%5Bimage_keyword_tesim%5D%5B%5D=water+scenes. I could not find a good website to use
because there weren’t any good websites. The answer
that I thought was right was F,but
the REAL answer was E.
7.Most tourists love Devonshire cream tea – scones, clotted cream and raspberry jam with tea. But where in England is Devonshire?
I think the answer is G.I am going to use Bing for this one
because it is one of the most popular search engines so it has to be accurate. The search terms I’m going to use are Denvonshire,England, location to figure this out.It seems like there are no “good” answers because most
of them are from “Wikipedia” and Wikipedia is not an accurate website to use.I had to scroll down a good amount before I found a
good website near the bottom of the screen. Here’s the
link http://www.combs-families.org/combs/records/england/dev/history.htm. The answer I got
was B.
8.What and where are the Adirondacks?
I’m going to use google for this question. The search terms I’m going to use are “what, where,Adirondacks”.

9.Most people just call the region the Caribbean, but what is its formal name?
I’m going to use dogpile for this question. The
search terms I’m going to use are Caribbean, name, formal.Dogpile did not work because all the
answers were all hotels and dresses and stuff.Im
going to use bing for this one then.Bing
did not work for this one so I’m going to use Google.I got M for my answer.Heres the link that I used: http://wikitravel.org/en/Caribbean
10.Almost all tourists who visit the Galapagos Islands leave for their trip from what city?
I’m going to use google for this one.The
search terms I’m going to use are tourists,Galapagos, leave, city.I
have found a website that looks knowledgeable but it does not say anywhere
where they leave to go to the islands.I’m going to
use a different website.I have found an answer, the answer I got from reading this was P.Here’s the link: http://www.travelchannel.com/destinations/south-and-central-america/articles/the-galapagos-islands-guide-what-you-should-know
11.What was the United States’ first national park?
Well,I know that I’ve read something about this and it said that the oldest national park was Yellowstone. So I’m going to use my memory for this answer but I’m still going to use bing for this one.I think that it is T. I have found a website that shows me the answer and it was T.here’s the link: http://www.cnn.com/2016/02/04/travel/national-park-service-history-first-sites-feat/index.html
12.Of Hawaii’s six major islands, which is the smallest and least developed?
I’m going to use dogpile for this one.The search terms I’m going to use are smallest, island,Hawaii.Well dogpile only came up with hotel websites and not trustable websites so I’m going to use google for this one instead.I’m going to use the same search terms.I went onto USA Today.com and it says that the smallest of the islands is Kahoolawe. So since that is not and answer here I’m just going to guess and I’m going to say W.Here’s the link to USA Today. http://traveltips.usatoday.com/8-large-islands-hawaii-108082.html
