This is a quiz that was found in the Sunday January 3 2010 Concord Monitor newspaper…. Answers are there, too. You need to read the question, and… if you KNOW the correct answer, that’s good… but you must still VERIFY that correct answer. And write out your source for that correct answer. And, MOST importantly, I want to you also write out your thinking process- especially for the questions you do NOT know the answer to. Can you eliminate any of the answers? How? And how did you search for the correct answer? Did you search the QUESTION, or did you search the possible answers?

1. What are the three places that make up the points of the Bermuda Triangle?
I am going to use google for my search engine because it is the first one that pops up on my screen. I am going to use the search terms Bermuda, triangle, and location. I found 1,610,000 results and I scrolled through the snippets until I found a website that I wanted to read. I chose https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bermuda_Triangle and the correct answer was C. The three places that make up the Bermuda Triangle are Miami, Florida, Bermuda, and San Juan Puerto Rico.

I used the search engine Duck Duck Go for this question. I am going to use the keywords Recife and capital. I found that Recife is in Brazil. I don’t know how many search results I got because the search engine didn’t tell me. I used the website https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recife. I found that the answer was c, Brazil. The capital Recife of the state Pernambuco is located in Brazil.

I used the search engine Bing for this question. The keywords I used are how old is Nara, Japan. I got 1,110,000 results. I clicked on the first snippet which was https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nara,_Nara. I found that it was 1,300 years old, which is answer b.
For this question I am going to use the search engine ix quick. I have no idea what the answer is going to be but I’m predicting that it’s going to be b. The key words I am going to use are what is Northern Pacific Gyre. I went to the first snippet which was https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Pacific_Gyre. After reading the article I have found that the answer is b, that it is a giant debris field of garbage trapped in a spinning circle.
For number five, I am going to use 4 search engines and compare the answers. The search engines I am using are Google, Bing, Ixquick, and WebCrawler. I think the answer is going to be b. My search terms are going to be hagia Sophia location. On Bing and Google, they both showed me the answer without having to click on any snippets. The link I used for Google and Ixquick was https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hagia_Sophia. The link I found for Bing and WebCrawler was http://www.hagiasophia.com/listingview.php?listingID=1. Both links showed that the answer was a. Hagia Sophia is in Instanbul, Turkey.
For this question I am going to use the search engine Google. The keywords I am going to use are Kampar river whitewater rafting. I got 5,760 results. The website I’m going to is http://www.riverbug.asia/perak/whitewater-rafting-kampar-river. After some searching I found that the answer is b, Gopeng, Malaysia.
For this question I am using the search engine Google. The keywords I am using are Devonshire England location. I got 1,870,000 results. The website I used was https://www.google.com/maps/place/Devon,+UK/@50.7186729,-4.9046437,8z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x486bf8abdac00247:0x12c6ba0cca9c58fd. The answer is b, Southwest England.
