Day 1 is when we first arrived to cardigan mountain. We took a bus to cardigan and it took about maybe an hour tops, but it felt even longer with all the kids screaming and the bus driver yelling. I could not wait to be out of that obnoxious bus. When we first got there, it was pouring and we had to unload all of our items into the lodge, while it was pouring. When we got inside, we took our shoes and boots off, and went into the dining room upstairs. We played some fun games for an hour, like the rock, paper, scissors evolution game. After we played games, we brought our items upstairs to our bunk room and we got ready for our activity. We then went down to our meeting rooms to discuss what we would be doing for the day. We talked about what we were going to do. since it was raining, we had to load up on our gear, and also had to wipe our face every second, but our group got stream studies, so we had a chart and had to put items on the number for how acidic we thought it was. Once we were done with being inside, we got our rain gear on because it was still pouring, and hiked to the streams in our rain gear. We were there for about 2 hours and while we were there, we took samples of the water and put them into a box that showed us how acidic it was! It was really cool to witness. However, the rain impacted our studies because it made the stream flow, flow even faster then usual. It was also very hard to see in the rain without having to wipe your eyes every ten seconds. After that, we went to look for as many wild animals as we could find. I found 5 salamanders, and a few other bugs such as beetles and ants. This represents Human Eniormental Interaction because we messed with the animals homes and did not exactly put them back where we found them, we just let them go loose. When we returned to the lodge, it was time for free time. I just hung around in the dining area and talked with some friends. After free time, we had to set up for dinner. We got back into our groups and we learned how a piece of bacon was constructed, and also learned about ORT report, it is a song that you sing before you eat. We then went to dinner, for dessert we had chocolate ice cream with brownies and after we cleaned up the dining room. We went upstairs to get ready for bed, we then came downstairs and Mr. Woolner decided to read us some of his stories. Our group went outside and we went outside to look at the stars. and did this activity where we stared at a light with one eye while we put one hand on the other eye while she read us a story. We then took our hand off of the eye and we could see perfectly with the one that had been covered up. We could not see as well with the eye that had been staring at the light. We went inside, got ready for bed and attempted to go to sleep. It was pretty hard the first night while everyone was talking, but everyone eventually fell asleep.
