This is a quiz that was found in the Sunday January 3 2010 Concord Monitor newspaper…. Answers are there, too.  You need to read the question, and… if you KNOW the correct answer, that’s good… but you must still VERIFY that correct answer.  And write out your source for that correct answer.  And, MOST importantly, I want to you also write out your thinking process- especially for the questions you do NOT know the answer to.  Can you eliminate any of the answers?  How?   And how did you search for the correct answer?  Did you search the QUESTION, or did you search the possible answers?

Write it out!  Be complete.  A good paragraph per answer is what we are after here…

    1. Bahamas, Bermuda, and Puerto Rico
    2. Bermuda, Puerto Rico, and Tortola
    3. Miami, Bermuda, Puerto Rico

I am going to use the search engine google. I am going to use this search engine because it’s reliable and everyone puts information and shows links for Wikipedia and so on so I could tell if the links are trustworthy. I think the correct answer is A. because I love the Bahamas. I am going to use the key words Bermuda, Triangle, and location. I typed the key search box, but the words jumped up into a different box. Then I scrolled through the snippets and decided to look at the page. The correct answer is C this is my link I used   http://www.history.com/topics/bermuda-triangle. The 3 locations is Miami, Bermuda and Puerto Rico.

    3. Brazil

I am going to use the search engine dogpile. I am going to use this because it has many things on it like news saying its pie day and has favorite searches today and it runs smooth and good. I think the correct answer is C because it sounds like a Brazilian name. Also Pernambuco is a type of tropical wood and from Brazil. I will use the search term Pernambuco’s Capital other terms started filling in automatically like it predicted what I wanted. Then I scrolled through all of possible sites until I found a reliable one. I used this link to gather my information and to see if it’s right. Here is the link I used this as my link http://www.brazil.org.za/pernambuco.html. The answer I found was C, Brazil.

I feel like the answer is B, 1300 years (in 2010) because it’s not too long ago and it’s not far away for how long Nara, Japan has been around for. So I went to Bing seeing all of my recent searches and I clicked on searched and type how old is Japans first Capital City. Many answer came up fast and I looked down and looked at the description and then I knew witch one I was going to pick. 1. This year (in 2010)  a mosaic of an angel was discovered under the floor of the Hagia Sophia.  Where and what is the Hagias Sophia?

    1. Istanbul, Turkey.  It’s a museum that previously was a Byzantine Christian Church and a mosque.
    2. Luxembourg.  It’s a cathedral built to honor St. Sophia, the country’s patron saint.
    3. Mexico City.  It’s a traditional market where the image of the angel is said to have healing powers.

I am going to use the search engine ixquick. I am going to use this because Mr. Woolner likes it so I think it must be reliable. We also have to use other like Duck Duck Go and Google and another one is web crawler and I belief the answer is A because I heard a history about Turkeys museum. The Website are really different from the names and qualities I found google the best because of quality and how fast everything came up. I also thought Duck Duck go worked well but not the best it worked well and gave me lots of results and Web Crawler was slow because it was kind of old so it works kind of slow. After researching the answer I found was A, Istanbul, Turkey. It’s a museum that previously and a Byzantine Christian Church and a mosque. I got this link on Google right here http://www.britannica.com/topic/Hagia-Sophia. I chose this link because it had the answer I was looking for.
