Location Paragraph

Cardigan Mountain is a beautiful mountain that is located in Orange, NH and is the center of Cardigan State Forest and Park. From the top of this mountain, you can see Newfound Lake located 20 miles east in Bristol, New Hampshire. Mount Cardigan is 50 - 60 miles north of Hopkinton, NH. The absolute location of the highest point of Mount Cardigan is 43.64890 degrees north latitude and 71.9139 degrees west longitude.

The cultural geography of Mt. Cardigan focuses on the AMC lodge and its Croo of people. They were kind and patient people. It reminded me of Scout camp because of the way they served food and their enthusiasm about having us being with them. The AMC lodge did not have a T.V. This allowed us to talk with each other and socialize. On the hike we went up to the top of Fire Screw and crossed over to Cardigan. At the top we saw a fire tower and an excellent view of the landscape. On the way down, we hiked down the Alexandria ski trail which was man made a long time ago. We also found an old stone foundation which was evidence of some type of building. The cultural geography of Cardigan forced me to get outside, exercise and lose some weight.

The physical geography of Mt. Cardigan was centered around nature. For instance, I saw a woodpecker pecking at a dead birch tree trying to find some bugs. There were lots of trees such as hemlocks, spruces, pine and birch trees. There were also striped maple trees but not a lot of oak. We did a stream study on Bailey Brook. Bailey Brook is a long clean stream close to the base of Mt. Cardigan. The water varied from swift to stagnant and was home to water striders and small fish. We saw boulders taller than me where we ate a delightful and delicious lunch. The summit of Mt. Cardigan was bear rock because of a fire. Because of this, it offered a great view. Mt. Cardigan is a place that I would like to visit again because of its beautiful physical geography.

we were there for a sunny sunday, a muggy monday, and a rainy tuesday
