This is a quiz that was found in the Sunday January 3 2010 Concord Monitor newspaper…. Answers are there, too. You need to read the question, and… if you KNOW the correct answer, that’s good… but you must still VERIFY that correct answer. And write out your source for that correct answer. And, MOST importantly, I want to you also write out your thinking process- especially for the questions you do NOT know the answer to. Can you eliminate any of the answers? How? And how did you search for the correct answer? Did you search the QUESTION, or did you search the possible answers?
Write it out! Be complete. A good paragraph per answer is what we are after here…

1. What are the three places that make up the points of the Bermuda Triangle?
I think that the answer is C, Miami, Bermuda, and Puerto Rico. I am going to use google for this question. I am also going to use the search term Bermuda Triangle. http://news.yahoo.com/bermuda-triangle-mystery-solved-scientists-144600528.html I searched on google and found a website called yahoo answers and I know that the answer is C.
I believe that the answer is C, Brazil, I am going to use a different search engine and use Bing. I also am going to use the search term Pernambuco. When I searched Pernambuco a little information box appeared and I did not hit enter at all and it said Pernambuco is a state of Brazil. I was told by Mr.Woolner that Bing does track you. I hit the search button and scrolled through looking at a few websites and I chose to do Britannica. http://www.britannica.com/place/Pernambuco I looked through it a bit and it look truthful and authentic.
I will use another different search engine called www.duckduckgo.com , I am going to use this one because I have heard that it does not track you. I am going to use the search terms Nara Japan, 2010, and huge anniversary. I think its B because its an old number but its not wicked old. As I typed my search terms there was little things that popped up. I observed the titles of the websites and I saw one that said “Nara, Japan, Celebrates it 1300 year anniversary in 2010…”. https://buddhistartnews.wordpress.com/2009/12/15/nara-japan-celebrates-its-1300th-anniversary-in-2010/ I clicked on the website and it was very poorly made so I went back and choose the website that says its from New York Times. I clicked in the link and it was very different from the other one, it was way more professional and New York Times is a trusted news company and very famous. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/01/03/travel/03headsup.html So I trusted it and used that. The Correct answer is B 1300 years.
I am going to use the popular search engine Google and my search terms will be Northern Pacific Gyre. I do not know what the answer may be. I used the website Wikipedia to find the answer for this question https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Pacific_garbage_patch . I found out that it is a gigantic floating field of trash that’s spinning in circles repeatedly.
We are going to do this question in a very very very very different way- we are going to use 4 different search engines and compare them. I am going to use duckduckgo, google, webcrawler and for my last one Ixquick. I have no idea what the answer is because I have never heard of it before. I will use for my search terms Hagia Sophia, 2010. As I type in duckduckgo search terms popped up, Duckduckgo apparently does track searches but not MY searches. In webcrawler it does not bring up any search terms when I type, Google gave me websites right away and I didn’t even finish typing. Ixquick gave me travel website ads and further down in the snippets of the websites. I chose this website because it seems to be made from the museum https://www.metmuseum.org/toah/hd/haso/hd_haso.htm .The correct answer is A Istanbul, Turkey.
We are about to start 6. We are going to do something different. We are going to LIMIT the search using site: tricks. I am going to use google and use search term Kampar River. I searched it and I kept finding that the sites would say Indonesia but Mr. Woolner explained to us that Indonesia and Malaysia were very close together. So the answer is B Gopeng, Malaysia. If found the answer in Wikipedia. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kampar_River
For this question I am going to use duckduckgo for my search engine. I am also going to use Devonshire England for my search terms. I think the answer is A because usually in the country that’s where they make the cream from animals maybe. The answer I found was B Southwest England.
I will use ixquick for the search engine
