This is a quiz that was found in the Sunday January 3 2010 Concord Monitor newspaper…. Answers are there, too.  You need to read the question, and… if you KNOW the correct answer, that’s good… but you must still VERIFY that correct answer.  And write out your source for that correct answer.  And, MOST importantly, I want to you also write out your thinking process- especially for the questions you do NOT know the answer to.  Can you eliminate any of the answers?  How?   And how did you search for the correct answer?  Did you search the QUESTION, or did you search the possible answers? 

Write it out!  Be complete.  A good paragraph per answer is what we are after here…

• Use Google AND  Bing and at least 2 other search engines... any search engine you desire.  In your paragraphs, write down which search engine you used. 

• Use Search Terms that make sense.  Do NOT just type/copy the entire question.  Use Search Terms.  Use search terms that make sense.  In your paragraph, write down what search terms you used.

• Use Advanced Search methods, or at least look for .edu sites,  .gov sites   and   .com sites.  At LEAST these 3 types of sites.  You can have others, such as   .org    and    .net.    In your paragraph, write down how you searched for different domains (such as .edu, .gov .com,   etc.   Those are called “domains”.)

• And... write down the correct answer in the paragraph.  Perhaps that is the last sentence in your paragraph.

I am going to use the search engine I intend to use is Dogpile. Because it is my favorite search engine.

I think the answer is c. Because I know Bahamas is not part of the Bermuda triangle so that eliminates a Tortola isn’t. I noticed that as I typed that dogpile started to guess what I was going and gave me the answer. Below is the link to Wikipedia which is where I found the answer. 2. Recife is the popular, pretty capital of Pernambuco state in what country?

For this question I will be using the search engine google to find the answer. I am going to use google because I like the different colors. I think the answer to this question is c. This time I will us duck duck go because I like duckies.

This time I will be using ixquick for a search engine because Mr. Woolner told me to. Before I search I think the answer is B.  Because the answer is not likely to be c because that’s really old and is too early, in noticed that nothing chowed up that I typed but when I entered it came up. 5. This year (in 2010)  a mosaic of an angel was discovered under the floor of the Hagia Sophia.  Where and what is the Hagia Sophia?

1. Istanbul, Turkey.  It’s a museum that previously was a Byzantine Christian Church and a mosque.

I am going to do this one very very very very differently.  I will be using google yahoo duck duck go and dogpile. When I use dogpile nothing came up but when I did google all I typed in was hag and everything came up for it. For yahoo I had to type in hagi just like I had to do for dogpile. I typed in hagi and it gave me a ton of answers. After avoiding commercial links and websites. I found one that gave me the right answer and was well worded. Here is the link to the website

For this question I will be using google because I like it. I think the answer is Gopeng because it is in south America and I have heard of that river so I know where it is.  The answer was obviously b and I used the key word

Kampar River and I got a lot of answers for the topic.

7. Most tourists love Devonshire cream tea – scones, clotted cream and raspberry jam with tea.  But where in England is Devonshire?

1. In dairy country east of London
2. Southwest England
3. Near the Scottish border

I will use duck duck go to find the answer for this question. I am using duck duck go because I like it and I usually use it. I think the answer is b. After researching I found that the answer is b which is southwest England.  To find this I types in Devon and I started to ask me if I wanted the location of Devon’s and there the answer was.  There where about 200,000 results to come up for the answer. I skipped over the ebay website and found a trusted link and website. Here is a screen capture of the website

For this Question I will be using google. I’m going to use google because I like it.  I looked it up and found that the answer was the West Indies.  And to verify it I went up and asked Mr.Woolner and he said the West Indies. To find this answer I searched Caribbean on google and found the answer.
