My Trip To Cardigan Mountain

Mount Cardigan is located in the town of Alexandria and Orange NH. The Latitude is North 43 degrees 38 minutes 584 seconds. The longitude is West 71 degrees 12 minutes and 42.1 seconds. There is two other mountains located next to the cardigan mountain the Orange Mountain and Fire Schew. Cardagen is slightly north and it is the tallest mountain around. you can spot from the ground the fire tower.

Mount Cardigan is different from every other mountains I hiked because there are more trails more trees and more mountains. There is a lot of different kinds of plants animals and other natural materials in the mountains when you're hiking. There was this one time we found a baby snake that just hatched. We also did a GPS hunt in which we sketched things like plants while we followed the compass. There was a gient fire that happend at Fire Screw and Cardagen that birned most of the trees down.

My group hiked the Fire Screw trail and then we climbed the saddle to Cardigan and then we took the Alexandria ski trail down it was very slippery and wet. Both of the summits were beautiful but I liked Cardigan because you can see everything from the top of the mountain we could even see the AMC lodge the place that we slept at. We also did pond and stream studies so we could see what kinds of plants and animals live there. Our group found a giant paper wasps nest and caught a lot of salamanders. There is lots of water off the trails of cardagen like streems, ponds and rivers. Cardigan was a great experience.
