Day Three

We saw several examples of Movement as a theme of geography while we were at Cardigan on Day Three. Day Three was the day we left, so as soon as we woke up we packed our bags. We weren't all that happy about leaving, but we had to, and it actually provided an example of movement. We were moving by leaving Cardigan Mountain. After we packed and put our stuff in a trailer, we ate a breakfast of French toast. The French toast could be another example of movement, because the food had to be transported to Cardigan at some point. The food had moved. Another breakfast-related example was when we did the ORT Report. The idea for not wasting food had "moved" to Cardigan, prompting the lodge to start doing ORT collection. (ORT is when all the remaining food from a meal is gathered up and weighed. ORT stands for Our Remaining Tidbits). After eating, we proceeded outside to play some games. We moved around a field, trying to steal a water bottle without the person leading the game noticing. Then, my group went to the pond to do a pond study. We watched as aquatic animals moved through the water, again demonstrating movement. Afterwards, we played one game as a whole group, and loaded the bus. Then, we moved away. The last example of movement at Cardigan was something that didn't involve us. As we left, people were installing solar panels on a hill there. This is an example of movement of ideas, because the idea of renewable energy had obviously traveled to Cardigan. And so our Cardigan trip ended. It had provided lots of examples of the 5 Themes of geography, and it had also worn us out; people slept on the bus ride home.

This is a sketch of the pond at Cardigan. I wrote some obsevations about it on the opposite side.

This is a sketch of the different pond creatures that we found in the pond. I also used this page to record the Oxygen pH levels.

Day Three was the last day that we were at Cardigan Mountain. You can go to the other pages by clicking these links:
