Day One

Day One at Cardigan was the day we got there, so it was the day that we got acclimated to the area and to the "regions" that Cardigan has. When we got off the bus, it was raining. This prompted us to hurry inside the lodge, which we soon found was one "region" of Cardigan. It is one of the main points that people visit or stay in at the mountain. Next, after playing some games and eating lunch in the lodge, we got into hiking groups and went outside. Immediately we saw that there was a pond next to the lodge, which could be identified as a separate region from everything else at Cardigan. Then we walked on the trails a bit. They were another region, because they are very different from anything else you could encounter at Cardigan, and as soon as you enter the forest, you lose all sense of connection to the outside world. The final region of Cardigan, although we didn't identify it that day, was the summit. As a bare-rock peak, it is drastically different from everything else on or near Cardigan. After playing some games in the woods, we trekked back to the lodge, where we hung out for a while before eating dinner and going to bed. We were all brimming with excitement for the next day, when we would be climbing the mountain itself.

Here are all the sketches I did that day:

This is the first sketch we did at Cardigan. It is of the White Pine and Pin Cherry (I wrote "pine cherry" by accident) needles/leaves that we found doing a nature walk.

This is another sketch we did the first day. It is of an old car that we found on the top of a hill.

This is yet another sketch I made that day. It is of the leaves or fruit of several trees we saw on the nature walk.

This is another sketch I did.It is of some other things we saw while walking and doing the "mystery of the trees" activity. The activity (which the other sketches on this page are from) was a hunting game where we had to follow a series of directions to find an old car (pictured above). We used compasses for this activity.

We were at Cardigan Mountain for two other days-

Day Two

and

Day Three
